CooperativeGames.com

Full site redesign in Squarespace with refreshed UX and new e-commerce capabilities including Print on Demand and integration with MailChimp.

The Backstory

Suzanne had been running her beloved site, CooperativeGames.com, since 2009. Over the years, her WordPress setup had grown tangled with outdated plugins, broken themes, and enough backend clutter to make even the most patient teacher sigh.

She had a wealth of beautiful content — educational books, resources for teachers, and insights on cooperative play — but the tech got in the way. She couldn’t update her store without fear of breaking something, so she moved her products to Etsy. Blog updates became a chore. The site that once helped her reach classrooms and families had become too heavy to use.

The Turning Point

When Suzanne came to me, she didn’t need more tech power — she needed clarity and control.

A lot of designers might’ve doubled down on the “WordPress is best” approach. But instead of steering her toward something more complex, I listened. We talked about what she actually wanted: a site that felt like her again — approachable, inspiring, and easy to manage without needing a developer every time she wanted to post a blog.

So we made the brave, slightly unconventional choice: migrating from WordPress to Squarespace.

The Process

To make that move safely (and to keep Google happy), I handled:

  • Full WordPress backups of all content and images

  • Manual page screenshots for visual reference

  • A complete 301 redirect map to preserve SEO authority

  • A full rebuild in Squarespace with a simplified, modern layout

Then, we worked together to refine the new design — something clean and welcoming, with improved navigation and softer design touches that match Suzanne’s tone as a teacher and author.

Finally, we wrapped up with a 1-on-1 training session so she could confidently add products, write blog posts, and make updates without stress.

The Result

Suzanne is now fully back in the driver’s seat of her online presence.
Her site feels alive again — with new resources, refreshed visuals, and an integrated store that keeps everything in one place.

What I love most about this project is that it wasn’t about chasing the “most advanced” tech stack. It was about designing a system that worked for her, not against her.
