One of our recent projects with Humboldt Builders Exchange (HUMBX) falls into the second category.
As part of an ongoing effort to modernize member resources and strengthen engagement, HUMBX approached us with an idea: create a simple way for members to recognize outstanding employees throughout the local construction industry. The result was a custom Employee Recognition feature built directly into their website.
How Do You Recognize Employees Across Multiple Teams and Companies?
Humboldt Builders Exchange serves a diverse network of contractors, suppliers, and construction professionals throughout the North Coast. While members regularly celebrate exceptional employees within their own organizations, there wasn’t a centralized way to highlight those achievements across the broader HMBX community.
The goal was to create a process that felt approachable, professional, and easy to use.
Members needed a way to:
- Nominate employees for recognition
- Share details about their accomplishments
- Submit nominations online
- Help celebrate the people who keep local projects moving forward
At the same time, the system needed to be simple for HUMBX staff to manage behind the scenes. So we developed a custom Employee Recognition feature that allows members to submit nominations directly through the HUMBX website. The nomination form captures key information about each employee while creating a streamlined experience for both submitters and administrators. Because the feature is integrated directly into the website, nominations can be managed through a familiar workflow without requiring additional software subscriptions or third-party platforms. This creates a more seamless experience for both members and staff while keeping everything centralized within the HUMBX ecosystem.
When Does Custom Web Development Make More Sense Than Off-the-Shelf Software?
Many organizations start with off-the-shelf tools, plugins, or website builders. And for many businesses that’s exactly the right choice.
